The Principle of Collaboration

Fig.1. Collaboration

Collaboration is the process of two or more individuals, groups, or organizations collaborating together to accomplish a task or to reach a goal.

Indeed I want to elaborate the principle of “collaboration” in the greatest words of John Maxwell- whom I just listened- so he said;

 “to collaborative team members, completing one another is more important than competing with one another.”

There is a major difference between collaboration as well as cooperation. As far as collaboration is concerned, it is higher-level and elevated than cooperation.

  • Cooperation means an activity in which one participates and works together to sort out a portion of the problem.
  • Whereas collaboration has a vast canvas, higher-lever walk, and synchronous activity.

So collaboration is all about wanting to work together. Moreover, wanting means doing something deliberately and being certain that there is going to be a win-win. It is when great interactions are connected through a project and/or an activity that is being done.

Any of the best collaborations have experienced came from a diverse variety of perspectives. Bringing in truly different minds, looking beyond the business, discovering individuals with different schools of thought, different beliefs, different walks of life. This kind of mindset fosters a real culture of collaboration.

Furthermore, are you actually cooperating with or collaborating with people to reach greatness? If you are looking for innovation and higher-level thinking, collaboration is the path ahead. Because alone you are smart and together you are brilliant.

According to John, when you know you are going to be part of a meeting where you are going to collaborate, You will definitely get these three benefits.

  1. You would learn something more beneficial from each and every second of your meeting if you are attending a table of collaboration. But if you are not gathering productive, then definitely you are with the wrong people.
  2. The second thing is creativity and synergy. Sharing several good ideas ultimately born a great idea and it is really become more creative. you get the points that are out of your thoughts. With these learnings, you would become more creative and better than before.
  3. The third thing when you about to leave the room, you have more value and appreciation for your met peers than those people who talk on trivial matters. You start appreciating them because you know their contribution and their win-win policy.

So focus on collaboration instead of competition because it is a higher-ranked achievement. As Peter Senge said,

                         “Collaboration is vital to sustaining what we call profound or really deep change, because, without it, organizations are just overwhelmed by the forces of the status quo.”

So not any meeting should be more enjoyable for you than this one. You enjoy such collaboration because those people love what you love and all of their actions and doings are seamlessly matched with yours. They continuously make you better and adding more and more values to your personality. You would become more energized and productive in the end.
